I had lived in Chico for almost 30 years-originally from Redding so I felt I needed to get involved in something in the community and I love animals. My son was on his own and moved out so I had extra time on my hands.
What is your favorite part of volunteering at BHS?
I love the kitties–they are so darn cute. I love kitty season Also, the older cats too, they need furever homes the most. My heart hurts when I hear about some of the older cat’s stories.
Is there anything you have learned during your time at BHS that you have shared with others?
Hard one-probably compassion and unconditional love. Our animals need so much love and help. I love to tell people about our organization and all the good that we do in this community. I tell others about the adorable cats we have and encourage them to adopt not shop. I enjoy volunteering at our Community events and talking to people about BHS.
Do you have any animals of your own?
I currently have 1 cat (Tuffy) almost 6 and 1 dog (Molly) almost 16. I recently (June 29) lost my Harli-she was a brindle lab/pit cross. She has my shadow. She would have been 16 in August, but it still is so hard to let them go. I have always had cats and dogs growing up.
