– I like being involved with the community and helping out. I like making people smile. My friends from the Nexus day program also volunteer here and they told me about their positive experience working here. BHS seemed like a perfect way to do both.
2. What is your favorite part of volunteering at BHS?
– I like collaborating with other volunteers and taking on more responsibilities. I enjoy folding laundry with my DSP helper and socializing with dogs in addition to hauling wheeled laundry baskets my DSP helper hooks to the back of my wheelchair.
3. Is there anything you have learned at BHS that you have carried into your personal experiences or shared with others?
– I have learned more ways I can modify tasks like hauling laundry using my wheelchair with the assistance of my DSP helper.
4. Do you have any experience or animals of your own?
– I used to have a Golder Retriever service dog when I was younger. My DSP helper has a cat she adopted from here.
