This program saves lives
The issue of pet overpopulation in Butte County has reached a critical point, impacting shelters like ours profoundly.
Each day, more animals are born than there are available homes to provide for them. This unfortunate reality has led to shelters becoming overcrowded, a rise in euthanasia rates, and an alarming surge in the population of homeless animals within our community.
Fix it Program
Introducing our Fix It Program! Our mission is to address the pressing issue of homeless animals while extending a helping hand to our community members. Join us in our efforts to promote responsible pet ownership by participating in our spaying and neutering campaign. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of animals and the well-being of our community.
How It Works
Butte Humane Society has partnered with an anonymous donor that’ll match 10k in donations to help control Chico’s pet overpopulation to prevent homeless animals from needing space in shelters! Fix It Program is aimed at fixing the homeless animal crisis and supporting our community members by getting pets fixed!
This program offers 10 cost-covered spays/neuters per month drawn at random based on application. Applications open the 1st business day of each month and run through the 14th of each month. For more information, read through our application for guidelines and qualifications!
Starting in April, we will be pausing our spay and neuter scheduling as our primary surgeon has made the difficult decision to move to a clinic that is closer to her home. We are working to secure a new spay and neuter surgeon and will resume our program as soon as possible.
