Comprehensive Care for Your Unique Companions
At the Butte Humane Society Veterinary Center, we believe that all pets—no matter their size or species—deserve access to high-quality, affordable veterinary care. We are thrilled to announce that we have expanded our services to include Exotic Animal Care!
From scales to feathers and everything in between, our team is dedicated to providing specialized wellness and preventative services to keep your unique family members healthy and thriving.
Our Exotic Services
We offer non-emergency, wellness, and preventive care for a variety of exotic species, including:
- Small Mammals: Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Rats, and Mice.
- Reptiles: Turtles, Tortoises, Lizards, and Snakes.
- Birds: Parrots, Finches, and Backyard Chickens.
Wellness Exams – $90
Routine check-ups are vital for exotic pets, as they often hide signs of illness. Our $90 exotic exam includes a full “nose-to-tail” assessment to monitor growth, body condition, and overall health.
Husbandry & Nutrition Consultation
Proper environment and diet are the foundations of exotic pet health. During your visit, we can provide guidance on habitat setup, temperature/lighting requirements, and specialized nutrition.
Diagnostic Services
We offer on-site lab work and diagnostics to help identify and manage common exotic health issues before they become severe.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
Traveling can be stressful for exotic animals. To ensure a safe visit:
- Secure Transport: Please bring your pet in a secure, well-ventilated carrier or travel cage.
- Temperature Control: For reptiles and birds, please ensure they are kept warm during transport.
- Photos of Habitat: It is often helpful to bring photos of your pet’s home enclosure and a list of the foods they are currently eating.
Scheduling & Policies
- Appointments Only: All exotic services must be scheduled in advance.
- Deposit: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.
- Cancellations: Cancellations made with 48 hours or more notice have a refundable deposit. Deposits are forfeited for “no-shows” or cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice.
