The adoption of Venus is going wonderfully! She is such a sweet girl and loves everyone she meets. She is also very smart, example being that we only had one accident at home the day after I got her, but she quickly learned where to go. I am very lucky to be able to bring her to my work everyday too, and she learned within the first week proper behavior at work, such as when we need to be in our area being calm and when she can go visit the other coworkers and play. We typically get 2-3 walks a day as well so she can explore and get her exercise.
Since adopting Venus, she has really come out of her shell and she has such a big personality! When I was visiting with her at Butte Humane Society, she was so sweet and wanted love the whole time I was there. Today, she is still very loving to everyone but she is also such a goofy girl! One example being that whenever someone approaches her, she does this move I call the “limp noodle” which she rolls over on her back and lifts up her leg so the person will rub her belly, even if someone is just walking by but she still wants the belly rub!
I do not have any other pets in my home but my parents do, which we have come to visit them a lot lately. My parents actually have a BHS adoptee as well! Her name was Rosemary when she was there but we changed it to Lyra. When Lyra and Venus first met, Venus was a little unsure about Lyra probably because of her size (Pitbull/Boxer mix). But Venus and Lyra are so incredibly cute together and they just love each other. Sometimes we beleive Lyra thinks Venus is her baby because she is so gentle with her and let’s her do and have whatever she wants, even if it is Lyra’s! They also love to play wrestle all day long and Lyra goes very gentle and easy on her.
The only challenge I can think of at the moment is that Venus can jump onto anything, which I am trying to break that habit. Just the other day I walked away from my kitchen counter and when I returned Venus stole half of my sandwich. It’s a learning process but we’ll get there!
Adopting Venus was the best decision and she has made me so happy!
