Butte Humane Society Volunteer Program - Getting Started

Volunteering at Butte Humane Society can be a very rewarding experience for you and your family. As a volunteer, you can be assured that you are helping us with our daily operations and with our mission to save lives, find homes, and inspire compassion.  Volunteers perform tasks that our staff does not have the time to do and we do not have the resources to have them do.  From helping us clean catteries to walking dogs to helping with laundry and dishes, you are helping the animals tremendously.  To see the joy in an animal's eyes when you take a dog for a walk, play with a cat, or give  a cat a fresh clean bed you are creating a wonderful experience - for you AND them!

Volunteering is open to persons 16 years and older and ages 10-15 if accompanied by an adult over 18 years old. Accompanying adult must attend orientation with their volunteer age 10-15 and accompany them during every volunteer shift.

We do accept community service workers who have been assigned community service by the court.  However, we cannot accept community service workers who received community service for crimes relating to theft, drugs, or violence.  Also, we cannot accept community service volunteers under the age of 16.  If you are interested in completing your community service with Butte Humane Society, please fill out our community service application.  The application does not guarantee that you are accepted into our program.  You will be contacted by our Volunteer Manager to discuss your application.  If you have any questions please contact: or call 530.343.7917 ext 133.
