An Animal Hero Program designed JUST for KIDS!
Butte Humane Society’s (BHS) Humane Hero program is designed to get kids aged 6-12 involved with the animals at Butte Humane Society in a fun and educational way. Individual children and groups, such as classrooms or scout troops, can help the animals by learning to be an advocate, fundraise, collect donated items from our wish list, and much more! All raised monies and collected items are used to make our furry friends’ stay at BHS more comfortable and enjoyable while we work to find them the perfect home.
Tail Wagging Workshops
Each monthly workshop will be an hour and a half long fun class that explores various topics ranging from animal advocacy and welfare to proper animal care and basic training skills.
Topics will range from overpopulation to disaster planning and safe pet handling to basic animal behaviors. These workshops will equip each BHS Humane Hero with amazing information to go out into the world and advocate while they fundraise for Butte Humane Society. Additionally, the children will get hands on interactions with animals guided by a trained staff member! Children will leave the program feeling empowered to be the best BHS Humane Hero possible.
Purr-Fectly Fun Fundraising
Butte Humane Society’s Humane Hero program will offer kid-friendly workshops as well as incentives and special prizes for donations collected and fundraising. This program was created to develop leadership and advocacy skills as well as to inspire the entrepreneurial spirit in children.
We will give children the tools and support to go out into the community and make change happen. BHS will guide and support individual children and groups so that they can raise money, supplies and awareness in their own circles while helping Butte Humane Society at the same time. They can bring back their proceeds and receive validations through prizes, Facebook postings, and accolades from the staff for doing an amazing job.
